Quotations
« on: 05/May/2007, 06:42:44 PM »
Would it be possible to maybe have a section for Quotations, wheas a Quote is fashioned similar to the Invoice (i.e. with the ability to put your own logo on).

The items on the quote would be the products already entered into the billing system.

Once the client has agreed the quote (either by online "yes" or manual entry form a phonecall etc), it could then be transferred to the invoice system for billing as normal?

Thanks for this suggestion - it is on the 'to do' list, but then again, so are a lot of other things!

It won't be in 1.1.3 I'm afraid, but it is a priority for future development. I would like to get some more feedback on how people would like this feature to work. I envisage a quotation to be very similar to an invoice, and created manually by an administrator. A button could be provided to generate an invoice based on the quote if required (the invoice can then be manually altered if necessary). Anybody have any other ideas about how this should work?

Well I think this is what I mean too about a request/lead generation system for invoicing system. See my post here http://www.nbill.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=42.0

This should be connected to a form for end users, requesting a quatation, where you get the varius data from the end user like name, address, e-mail etc. Should be easy to do with Chronoforms ( http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1508/Itemid,35/ ) He then click on the button and request a quotation from the publisher that are listed in the site.

The site owner can then charge the publisher for getting this xx quote/lead by different time/action settings ( by month, by yyy sent quotations, ...) like xx sent quotations then send billing to publisher bb in the web site. Could be complementary to Joomla components like Hot Property, Mosets Tree, SOBI2, ADSManager, EZ Reality, Jomres, Productbook, AlbergiHotel, CMS Realty, MisterAgent,Marketplace, Winebook, Restaurants etc Joomla components. They all can have usage of this component integration for a system like this.

If you do one for each you or someone else also can charge extra for that integration with this components too.

Thanks - although I really think quotations and lead generation are 2 separate requirements.

Yes this is a feature our clients need. Some sort of (rough) time frame for development would be great, thanks.

Unfortunately, due to delays in getting the component to work with Joomla 1.5 (in legacy mode), quotations are still languishing on the 'to do' list, and will not be in the next version (1.2.0). I haven't forgotten about this though, and it will be added as soon as poss.

Version 1.2.1 has not been released yet! The latest is version 1.2.0 (SP1). The last release was just a service pack to fix some bugs.
