Applying discounts to Quotes

I want to be able to sell "Gift Vouchers" on my site which clients can redeem against items they may buy or quotes for services that they may request. What would be the best way of implementing this using nBill and nCart?

I can see that I am able to set up discounts and enter voucher codes which could be used only once, but how do I set up a field on a quote request form or on the checkout form which would automatically be picked up by the system when a client enters it?

To use the value of a field as a discount voucher code, click on the field in the form editor, then click on the 'Processing' tab of the field properties on the right hand side, and select 'Discount Voucher Code' from the dropdown list for the setting 'Order Value'.

This will not work on quote request forms, because no payment is ever taken when a quote request form is submitted. It can be used on order forms and nCart checkout though. The only way of allowing for voucher-code based discounts on quotes is to setting 'Available for Quotes/Invoices' to 'yes' on the discount record (of course you can also incorporate discounts as line items or section discounts on the quote itself if you wish).

OK. I see how the discounts can be applied on order forms and the ncart checkout and how one can apply discounts as line items or section discounts in quotes but what, exactly, does setting the discount record to 'Available for Quotes/Invoices' do? I have tried giving a discount record this setting but cannot see how it helps me when issuing a quote.

When the person accepts the quote and pays for it online, they are given the option of entering a voucher code to apply a discount before they are sent to the payment gateway.
