CVN now Mandatory
« on: 21/June/2012, 12:21:57 AM »
Hi Guys

I recently received this message from our Payment Gateway provider (eWay in Australia)

Card Scheme Compliance Rules Notification

We would like to advise you of the new rules for eCommerce merchants regarding the CVN/CVV2, which is the 3 or 4-digit security number on a credit card.

On the 1st of April, Visa and MasterCard mandated that all online transactions must include the CVN/CVV2 from the credit card being used. By now your merchant bank should have been in contact to advise you of the required changes. This mandate is now being enforced, and non-compliant merchants are being contacted to ensure their website is updated to capture this field.

Transaction impacts
If you are currently processing transactions without capturing the CVN/CVV2, you need to update your website to make this a required field on your payment form. In the near future, transactions processed without CVN/CVV2 data will be rejected by the gateway.

What do I need to do?
If you already accept the CVN/CCV2 field, no further action is required.
If you are not yet accepting this field, you will need to contact your web developer and/or shopping cart provider to ensure this field is included in your payment form. eWAY supports CVN/CVV2 payments via our CVN gateway, our Shared Payment page and our new Rapid API solution. You can direct your web developer to these resources in order to implement the change.

If you have any questions or need assistance with this matter please call us on 1800 10 65 65.

Kind Regards,

eWAY Customer Care Team

Is there a way to make the CVN field required?

Thanks
Josh

Thank you, the eWAY and Authorize.net gateways have now been updated to make the CVN mandatory - you can download them here: http://www.nbill.co.uk/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,10/task,cat_view/gid,13/
