Product price always shows as $0
« on: 24/March/2007, 09:37:04 PM »
I have just setup Netshine Billing and am having a little issue.  When you go to purchase the item, it shows as $0 although I have pricing input for setup fee, one-off, quarterly, biannually and annually.

Also, it is set to use Paypal but I'm not being taken to paypal to purchase the item.  Is this because of the $0 thing or something else?  Thanks for the help.

Make sure a payment frequency is selected on your order form - either via a field with an associated order value, or directly entered on the Order tab. Also make sure the product is associated with a field on the form. If the value is 0, you will not be redirected to a payment gateway as there is nothing to pay.

Payment frequency is selected in the order form. Payment gateway (paypal) is selected in the order form setup as well.  What do you mean "make sure the product is associated with a field on the form"?

I'm still not having any luck :(

An order form does not know what product(s) to order unless you tell it. At least one fiield on the form must therefore have an associated product. Please try the order form walkthrough in the documentation, as this shows you how to do it.

I'm having a similar problem in trying to create a subscription, but I have the appropriate fields linked to products. I also tried using the form walkthrough, and I get the same result, the price at the end is always $0.00

When I booted up my computer today, all of the field prices for the product I was having a problem with were set to 0. I know this wasn't the case yesterday, because I specifically had given every field a different value to see my form was calling a different frequency then what I expected, but now it works.

Thanks for your attention to this issue!

I'm wondering whether the loss of values might be due to using mysql5 in strict mode (I have not tested Netshine Billing with mysql5), as per your other issue. I will try to go through all the tables and ensure they are set to allow nulls if applicable, so that this should not be a problem in the next release.

I have been working a test version for Netshine Billing for several days to see if it meets my needs. At this time, it seems better that any of the alternatives.

First, I followed the "walk-through" and it worked fine.

Then I changed my product selection field to "drop down list".

I don't know if this change had anything to do with it, but my product prices and discount were reset to 0. And they persist in resetting to 0 the moment I "save" or "apply".

Has this issue been solved yet?

As far as I'm aware, there is currently no issue. To resume, the things to check are:

1) Make sure the 'payment frequency' setting on the 'order' tab of the order form is set, and that the product(s) concerned have a price set for that payment frequency.

2) Make sure that at least one field on your form is actually associated with a product. This is done in the edit popup, or in the options popup (the latter if you want a different product to be ordered depending on the selection made in the list). Failure to associate a product with any fields on the form is the most common cause of having a product price of zero when you try to place an order.

3) Ensure there is a currency specified on the 'order' tab, and that you have used the correct currency code (you can see the code to use by checking the currency list).

4) Make sure a payment gateway has been selected on the 'details' tab.

5) Make sure a price has been specified for the relevant payment frequency and currency on the product record, and that the 'free of charge?' option is set to 'no'.
