multiple vendors
« on: 17/March/2010, 01:54:53 PM »
Is it feasible for me to have two vendors - one for "live" and one for "testing"?

I am hoping that it will be as simple as changing the vendor to which the form is attached from test to live when I've finished tinkering with it and making sure it works. Can they share products, order forms, payment gateways, etc etc?

You could do, but each vendor has its own products, orders, order forms, invoices, etc. Clients, contacts, and payment gateways are global though.

can i easily copy things over between vendors?

Also a quick Q about quotes. I am thinking about building in a system whereby a potential client gives me some details about themselves and I pick the most suitable product for them and then all they have to do is purchase. Is this possible with a quote form?

You cannot easily copy records between vendors but you can easily change the vendor for a record.

Yes you can just enter an SKU (or click the lookup button and select a product from the list) on the quote record, then change the status to 'quoted' (which prompts you to email the quote to the client). The client can then accept or reject the quote - if they accept, they can be taken straight to payment and an order and invoice is generated when they have paid.

OK just to complicate matters, could they be taken to an order form which already had some details filled in but not all of them?

Only if you send them a URL with parameters on the end to supply the pre-filled values (there is no automated way).
