Re: French Package - What procedure for single file?

Hello Everybody,

I am joining the conversation regarding the French language pack.
I set out to complete my own French pack, but would like to hear Russell on what is the best procedure to use for this?
1. The Pack is installed from the backend using the installer (which converts files in utf8 format)
2. Now if I want to change say, core.profile_fields.fr-FR.php, I am completing the file in my Notepad editor, then feed it back to the dir.
3. But I found this does not work : I have to add manually the iso code for those accented characters (é etc...) and then reload the single file
4. May be I should update all files, zip them and then feed the whole package via NBill installer?
Russell : can you confirm ?

Kind regards
G ?rard

Ideally you should set your text editor to use iso-8859-1 or iso-8859-2 encoding first, then enter your text, including diacritics as normal, then use the nBill installer to install the language pack - this will convert the encoding to UTF-8, preserving the diacritics. Alternatively, you could keep everything in UTF-8 and just overwrite the files directly without using the nBill installer (they will have to be converted back to iso-8859-1 before they can be installed with the installer, but I can do that if necessary)

Please be aware however, that mariodantas is also working on completing the translation into French, so your efforts may be duplicated!

Thanks for your prompt reply!
I just had to mail some invoices in French!
Agree : we we'll wait until Mario has completed the package!

I have just published an updated French language pack including some newly translated items by Mario. He says he is continuing with the remainder of the translation (for the back end features).
