hello,
I installed the French package, and it works well on backend, but everything is in English on the Frontend...
is it normal ?
what's wrong ?

It will pick up the language files if Joomla itself is using French. If you are using Joomla 1.5, you need to go to the language manager and make French the default language (it might be that presently French is just assigned to your user record).

well, I think I found the problem :
in the languages directory, we have this file :
french/frontend.french.php

This is the file which sould be called, without any success...
I renamed it and created a new directory, to have :
language/fr-FR/frontend.fr-FR.php

and it seems to work !!
(with the wrong charset, but well....)

Yet, I try to finish to translate all french files, because they are incomplete... I give them to you when I have finished...

It should not have been necessary to change the folder name, but at least it is working now - thank you for reporting back.
