HSBC Gateway

Hi
Has anyone tried the advertised HSBC method of accepting payments online and then crediting a business HSBC account. It is advertised on the HSBC Business Banking pages.
I spoke to HSBC, they said it costs ?200 admin fee and you receive a hash key and more technical than that they could not answer. If anyone has any knowledge about this I would be really interested. Do I also have to pay for a gate way for HSBC from the link on the NBill website?
Thanks
Emma

I have not written an HSBC gateway, so as far as I'm aware, the only one available is the commercial one sold by OSDCS. Typically, in the UK, you have to sign up for a merchant account with a card processor (such as Streamline), then also sign up for a separate account with a payment service provider who actually provide the internet card processing service. Both accounts are usually charged an amount per transaction, and some also have a standing charge per month. Some might also have a setup fee. In some cases, both accounts can be supplied by the same company which simplifies things a bit. The nBill gateway is the extension for nBill that connects nBill to the payment service provider's website.
I don't know exactly how things work with HSBC, but if HSBC will not advise you (shame on them!) you could perhaps ask OSDCS for some pointers as they ought to know what is required to run their gateway. Alternatively, you could look into an alternative payment service provider such as Paypoint's SECPay (for which there is a free nBill gateway).
