Hello everybody

I had postponed completing the French translation myself, expecting a full translation.
But it is not the case with the new package: http://www.nbill.co.uk/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,37/task,doc_details/gid,65/ of March 10
Many files are still not fully translated (e.g. quotes.fr-FR.php)

Mario Dantas said he was going to translate the rest of the text (http://www.nbill.co.uk/forum-smf/index.php/topic,1558.msg6458.html#msg6458), but it has not been completed as yet. You might want to PM him to find out how far he got, but if you would like to complete it yourself, please feel free to do so.

I downloaded a dozen French files from the site, completed translation using Notepad ++ and simply overwrote them back. But files do not display accents :
...Rfrences de la commande ...(see file attached)
Any other step to take to correct this?
Thanks

This is a problem with encoding. Joomla 1.0 uses iso-8859-2 encoding, but Joomla 1.5 uses UTF-8. In order to allow the language packs to be installed on either system, the files are encoded as iso-8859-2 but if the language pack is installed on an instance of nBill that is running in Joomla 1.5, they are converted to UTF-8 automatically by the nBill extension installer.

So if you just overwrite your language files (which have been converted to UTF-8 automatically) with iso-8859-2 encoded files, the diacritics will not show up correctly. You need to convert the files to UTF-8 either using your text editor (if it supports that - PSPad does, but I'm not sure about notepad++), or by zipping up the files into a language pack and installing it using the nBill extension installer.

However, you should not put UTF-8 encoded files in a language pack (because the nBill extension installer will try to convert them again and that will mess up the characters).

I hope that makes sense.

Hi Russell
It is OK now.
I had not probably done a full conversion on the first time.
Notepad ++ seems to convert fine to UTF8.
I shall proceed to complete the French translation in the next days.
