nBill 1.2.9 is now available. This is mainly a collection of bug fixes, but there are a couple of enhancements. In most cases, you can upgrade by clicking the upgrade link that will appear next time you access nBill administrator, but if your server configuration will not allow automatic upgrade, you will need to upgrade manually as described here: http://www.nbill.co.uk/documentation/index.php?page=upgrade-from-a-previous-version.html

There is a new configuration option (available on the 'display options' page) to specify whether or not to include the 'option' parameter in the URL for form submissions. If you have found it necessary to hack the front-end files to remove the option parameter, as described here, you do not need to worry about that any more (no need to re-instate the hack) - you can just set the new display option to 'no'.

If you are using the user subscription plugin (mambot), and have the expiry redirect set to 'default' on your user subscription product record, when the user tries to login after their subscription has expired, if possible, they will now be shown a link which will enable them to renew immediately (it is probably still a good idea to use a reminder as well). Please note: In order to use this feature, you will need to upgrade (uninstall and re-install) the user subscription plugin (available at the end of this page: http://www.nbill.co.uk/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,10/task,cat_view/gid,15/).

Here is the full change log (also available in /administrator/components/com_netinvoice/CHANGELOG.PHP):

  • Added quantity information to description passed to Paypal
  • Fixed bug with the number of billing cycles (it was calculating it wrongly and resulting in 1 more payment than necessary)
  • Amended Paypal callback URL processing to allow both relative and absolute URLs
  • Added a new display option to allow configuration of form submissions where template or SEF component requires the option parameter to be used (or not)
  • Added new display option to allow you to decide whether or not to show the date range on invoices (on by default, and it is recommended to keep it that way in most cases)
  • Fixed problem with nominal ledger codes acquiring unnecessary white space in income and expenditure records (thus breaking the ledger report)
  • Fixed problem with output buffering on invoice generation leading to display errors on pending order activation
  • Fixed problem with ledger report not outputting anything for expenditure if there are no income records
  • Added workaround for an issue affecting some sites where Joomla does not know what the website address is
  • Fixed problem with uninstalling payment gateways
  • Fixed problem with PDF generation when gzip is enabled
  • Now allows HTML in option descriptions
  • Changed spelling of 'writeable' to the more common 'writable'
  • Turn off Paypal sandbox by default for new installs
  • Fixed problem with invoice total where a setup fee and a recurring payment appear on the same invoice
  • Adjusted handling of https to deal with cases where SSL port is not the default 443
  • Added some padding to the login form
  • Added id attributes to core profile fields
  • Updated the info icon
  • When a user subscription expires, the user is now offered a renewal link, if possible, as soon as they next try to login
  • Fixed PHP notice about carriage ledger code
  • Fixed tax exemption code handling where value is entered on an order form
  • Fixed problem with invoice list display in the front-end where no orders or invoices are present
  • Added some basic validation to client profile
  • Added some supporting code for a workaround which allows limited use of one-off + recurring payments in a single transaction
  • Fixed a problem where some incoming payments were not being tied up with their order record
  • Fixed a problem where some invoices were not being marked as paid when a payment comes in
